The perfect getaway to Algarve
The Algarve draws all kinds of tourists, from surfers and party-goers to sunbathers and busy bees. Add in some bon vivants, and you’ve got the perfect mix for an Algarve getaway. And you can easily book this trip through Eliza was here! While the Algarve's iconic cliffs are a must-see, they can get crowded. That’s why Arlette sought out lesser-known gems—local eateries with fresh food, hidden villages, and a few active adventures. A stay in boutique accommodation completes the experience.
Ultimate Algarve sunset hike
The 7 hanging valleys hike is the perfect way to get introduced to the famous coastline of the Algarve region. The trail will take you to the most beautiful cliffs and beaches for 7 kilometres long. Start at ‘Praia da Marinha’ and walk all the way to Carvoeira. The best time to do this is definitely during sunset time, as the temperature drops and the light on the cliffs is just *chef’s kiss* 🤌🏼
Rustic design hotel Hospedaria
What we loved: • The house dog • The homemade breakfast with local produce • Honesty bar made in what used to be a shop ages ago • Tavira and the seaside are just a 5 min drive away • Walk outside the hotel and you can run/walk for 5km in beautiful surroundings All in all: a great choice for boutique hotel lovers!
Sunrise at Ponta da Piedade
Nothing beat starting your day with a stunning sunrise according to me! And Ponta da Piedade is a magical place to do so 😌 Park your car on the main parking lot and walk all the way towards the last viewpoint to catch the first rays of sun. These will not only touch your face, but the orange cliffs as well. So, so pretty.
Algarve: boutique stay Casa Céu
Welcome in Casa Céu, a home away from home 💕 We arrived here right during sunset time and the colours were simply stunning. Nestled in the historical city center of Olhão, this is a guesthouse that makes you feel like one of the locals. For a big part, that’s the result of how the Swiss-Mozambique couple Lara & Dario (& their dog Luz) take care of all guests. They opened this 4-bedroom hotel in 2019 because of their love for authentic Portugal, hospitality, design and food. And you can feel all of that passion throughout the house.
Design hotel Hospedaria in the Algarve
In a very quiet and local part of the Algarve region, you'll find boutique design hotel Hospedaria. What used to be a local shop, is now a countryside, riad-style hotel with 5 rooms, a pool area, living room and outside restaurant. Entering Hospedaria is like entering your home away from home - at least, that's what I felt in just a few seconds. So peaceful, so stylish and with a lot of space to wind down.
