Loose and Lovely 1790s Locks The 1790s was a decade of flux. We see fully powdered hedgehog coifs next to loose, natural, and almost straggly Merveilleuse styles. I love them all, but for the first wearing the the Chintz gown, I want to try something more loose and wild, something like these... http://americanduchess.blogspot.com/2013/07/loose-and-lovely-1790s-locks.html

18th century portrait of an aristocratic lady wearing a beautiful spring green silk gown. This is particularly interesting because of the large buttons and looped cord or ribbon on the front bodice. One rarely sees buttons on an 18th century ladies bodice unless they are very small covered silk which was used sometimes for front bodice closures in the late 18th century.
