Be inspired by stories from Compassion's programs around the world.
Transformed children transform their communities.
Maria grew up in a dangerous neighbourhood in Peru, unsure if her parents would ever be able to afford her education. “My sponsor shared their life with me. Even simple things that made me feel a part of their family. They encouraged me to dream big and to trust God for my future. I believe you can never imagine how that will impact the life of a child. For me, it was life changing. Transform the life of a child by sponsoring today.
Frangky’s community in Indonesia
We recently asked some parents in our programs what it feels like to live in poverty. Frangky: “I know exactly how it feels when I don’t have money or food,” he explains. “It makes us feel empathy for others.” For Olive in Uganda, poverty steals dreams. “When someone is in absolute poverty, the reason they fail to plan is because they see nothing they can plan for. But if supported and helped, people can get out of poverty.” Click below to learn about Compassion’s child development program.

In the past, Oosamai's family would move to find work wherever they could. Thanks to the support of Compassion's local church partner his sons are attending school consistently for the first time, empowering them towards a different, sustainable future. Childhood poverty itself is the main reason why poverty continues in the next generation. But holistic child development changes this story from the inside out.
