Here in North Carolina, we’re entering what’s known as “False Fall.” The weather is beginning to cool, and the leaves are starting to turn, but after more than two years of living here, I know we’re due for some more hot weather before we enter actual fall. Regardless of what the temperature is, I’ve been cozying up our home for the autumn season. There’s something so magical about this season of transition, and if I do say so myself, the house is looking its best amidst all the cozy fall throw,

I’m practically giddy because tomorrow, demo starts in the old laundry room/Cricket’s room, so we can transform it into the mudroom! In our 2023 project list, we announced that we would transform this space into a pool bathroom… but that’s not happening anymore. Instead, the pool bathroom will eventually be added to the guest house and entered through the black door by the outdoor kitchen (see if you can spot it in this post here). But that’s a project for another day (….errrr, year).

This little water closet honestly felt like something that should have belonged in our last home when we moved into it. The changes made here are so charming and fun, and any time we have guests over, they comment on this little room.

There’s that doorway. So odd to think that putting the bed on this wall wasn’t even an option before! But now it feels like the only thing that makes sense! Every night when we retire to this room, it feels like a reward, and I’m so happy with it.
We all have our own prefered ways of making a bed, but I spent years perfecting my process to make it the perfect mix of picture perfect but still cozy and inviting.

There’s something about the kids going back to school that initiates the start of fall for me. I get the itch for cooler weather, cozy blankets, and pumpkins on porches. So, I’m inching my decor toward fall, room by room, to try and inspire some fall spirit. Today, we’re visiting the bonus room to play a game of I Spy, Fall Edition. Also, keep scrolling for a list of our must-watch movies for this upcoming fall and Halloween season.

The constant throughout the home is the flooring, but the entry also dons a new, beefy newel post, a closed stringer all along the side of the staircase, new balusters, and lighting. A lot of little tweaks that make a great first impression.

After finishing the Study, I was really craving a home project with a lighter lift (is there such a thing?). Although no project is without its bumps and hiccups, slowing down and renovating Faye’s bedroom was exactly what my heart, head, and body needed. It’s been an absolute delight working with her over the last few months, letting Faye take the lead in designing a room that she loves, making the both of us happy. And so, without further ado, here’s Faye’s new bedroom!

Nearly 2 years have passed since our honed Carrara marble countertops were installed, and (*confession) we haven’t done a thing to keep up maintenance besides wiping them daily with a little dish soap and water. I know, I know, the cleaning gatekeepers would be ashamed, but hey, I’ve never claimed to be a perfectionist over the small things. Scratches and stains here and there don’t bother me, and we knew from the beginning that Carrara marble is prone to a few. But, with how much use this kitch

To me, Fall starts once the kids are in school, no matter the weather. I get too excited to wait, and I like to enjoy my favorite season for as long as I can. So once September hits, I start transitioning my decor to fall (see the fall bonus room, fall kitchen, and faux fall branches). When it comes to seasonal home decor, I like to keep things fairly simple. My tips for making my home feel more cozy are easy enough to do in an afternoon (I did)! We’ve been on a journey to find the perfect exterior color to pair with our red brick. You see, our windows need replacing, so we’re taking this window of opportunity (see what I did there?) to paint all the exterior trim, soffit, and fascia to match. We color-matched my top window colors, and we’ve been painting samples on all sides of the house, hoping to find the one.
