Lorenzo A. Barnes ("Old Batch") as Mexican War Veteran, arrived in California in 1850 where he mined various places in Mother Lode. Barnes settled in Calaveras County where owned Natural Bridges. Born in New York in 1823, died in San Francisco 1904. This picture taken at 1900 reunion of Native Sons in San Francisco.
George H. Baker came to California during Gold Rush, mining briefly, and then engaged in mercantile pursuits in San Francisco and Sacramento and throughout the gold fields. Settled in Sacramento in 1850's, moving to San Francisco around 1862. Worked as artist, art teacher, and general lithographer
