Hello all and welcome to my first Instructable.I've always wanted a bench PSU for easy access to a power source, and something that I can rely on when working on various projects. I wanted a PSU that: • provides 12v, 5v, and 3.3v outputs • provides variable voltage outputs • has an LCD monitor to show voltages • doesn't cost too much • looks good as wellFirstly, I have to have a disclaimer: PLEASE be careful when working with mains voltages...

Working with electronics you are bound to need different voltage sources for your projects. So having a good and reliable benchtop power supply is way, way, waaay easier and more convenient than having to combine batteries in different ways or trying to find a power adaptor that can deliver just that right amount of voltage. Now, obviously you can easily get one of those pro made power supplies by trading a sh*t load of money for it. But in my opinion that is both less fun, easier, more safe…

When you want to learn about electronics as a hobby, you will, of course, need to make alot of circuits, and you need to test them. For that you will need a power supply, but you will often find yourself needing different voltages for different projects, so any power supply wont do, and you would want something thats a bit more versatile. You can go out and buy an off-the-shelf Lab PSU with alot of different features, but these are often very expensive, and you dont need all that fancy…
