A lecture by Yiddish author Zusman Segalowicz, recently returned from a European tour, on "Paris and London [from my manuscript]" covering 1) Life in a railroad car, 2) Parisian nightlife, 3) July 14th in Paris, 4) Dancing in the streets, 5) The Jewish Quarter, 6) A breath of London, 7) The future Lord, 8) Shabes in Whitechapel, 9) Paris-London: two contrasts, and concluding with a reading of excerpts from the then unpublished novella, "Antosha", etc. in the hall of the Jewish Academy Lord, Reading, London, European Tour, European, Manuscript, Parisian, Unpublished

Tema Sznajderman, alias Wanda Majewska, was one of the first women to serve as a courier on behalf of the Jewish resistance. She is shown here in 1942 in Bialystok, where she had followed Mordechai Tenenbaum, a resistance leader and her fiancé. Sznajdermann disappeared in January 1943 and was later discovered to have been killed in the Warsaw Ghetto. Deportation 1941 A decree ordering all Jews to be registered, to wear yellow badges on their chest and back, together with a host of other discriminatory measures was introduced. All Jewish property outside the designated ghetto area was to be confiscated. Food supplies were to be restricted to that which was "surplus" to local requirements.
