Jacek Malczewski one of the most revered painters of Poland and regarded as the father of Polish Symbolism. Creatively he combined the style of his times, motifs of Polish martyrdom and independence, Christian & Greek traditions, folk myth and a love of natural environment. He visited Paris, Munich, Vienna, Italy, Greece and Turkey. He drew his inspiration from a variety of sources exotic or biblical, translating them to Polish folklore.
