Pilots of No 302 Squadron RAF group for the camera at RAF Leconfield in early October 1940. The squadron was formed on 13 July 1940 around a core of 13 Polish airmen who had escaped from Poland in 1939 and then France in 1940. As the combat became more fierce, they were moved south to RAF Northolt on 11 October, arriving on the same day that No 303 Squadron RAF moved to the former airfield.
