K Valley House, by Herbst Architects, is situated amidst the lush Coromandel Peninsula, on New Zealand’s North Island. Appearing as a rusted-red box in the landscape, the house acts as a place of retreat for its clients.

The clients are a couple, a director and camera operator in the film industry, their jobs involve them filming on location for stretches of time. This house is the space to which they retreat between filming.
