Flowers hold a significant place in Indian art, culture and mythology.
Often a specific flower and fragrance is associated with individual Gods and deities. Flowers are loved for their beauty & fragrance and are also considered symbols of purity, strength, and generosity.
Flowers are used in Ayurveda for their medicinal properties, as decorations because of the beauty & positive energy they bring, and were used to make dyes for painting in ancient India. A painting on wood by Anjana Bhardwaj Radha and Krishna are collectively known within Hinduism as the combined forms of both, feminine and masculine realities of God. They say that Krishna enchants the world, but Radha enchants even him. Therefore, she is the supreme goddess of all, and together they are called as Radha-Krishna. Krishna grew up as a cow herder and also goes by the names Govinda and Gopala, which also mean “protector of cows”, this is why he is often depicted with cows. "Goddess Kali - a modern avatar" 60cm x 40cm A modern rendition of Kali - the very misunderstood, mythological goddess of moksha, destroyer of the ego. Her black skin represents the darkness we relate to as nothingness - the darkness from which everything is created and eventually dissolves into. The severed head she holds represents the demons she slays. The weapons she holds she uses to sever ties with the ego - the obsession we develop with our physical bodies, the same ego that makes u Kali Goddess, Demons, Ego, Darkness
