Iron battle axe with gold inlay in the Scandinavian Ringerike style of the 11th century. The axe was found at Botnhamn in northen Norway. It is the only known example of the gold inlaid axes mentioned in the Old Norse sagas. Iron, gold. L 14,1 cm, H 14 cm. Tromso Museum, Tromso.
