Epinetron. The epinetron was an Attic female pottery object, not a vessel. It was used by Attic women whilst weaving to prevent grease from the wool from spoiling their clothes. More ornamental epinetrons were placed on the graves of unmarried girls, or dedicated at temples, usually to the goddess Athena. It was often presented as a wedding gift. Its decoration varied from scenes of women working carding wool, to symposia or Amazons. Ancient Art, Athena Goddess, Minoan
