We left Portugal the day before yesterday, and I already miss the delicious, juicy sweet potatoes. Red on the outside, with violet lining and a neon orange or yellow flesh, while overcooked, were making the water green. Not only eating them was a pleasure but looking as well. That question might sound silly but have you ever marvelled on the structure and colours of some fruit or veggie? Don't worry, you're not a weirdo, I keep doing this all the time. :D

We got a baked one, then the cooked and then I've decided to try a gluten-free sweet potato tart. Yay, that was it. The pie resembled the pudding I had before and was a pure pleasure to eat.  That was one of the most positive gluten-free surprises I had. What about you, did you try a gluten-free treat that totally blew your mind?

I've made a sweet potato "cheesecake", I've eaten them for breakfast and dinner, and I've also made this incredible sweet potato and corn soup. That's the first of the Portuguese recipes I've prepared - a simple baked chicken breast with herbs and potatoes. I have to say that it worked quite good, What's your favourite lunch while you're travelling?

I've prepared farinheira as a part of the Polyglot's Challenge - it was a Portuguese recipe that was original with alheira, a Portuguese garlic sausage. I just forgot that "farinha" means wheat and was surprised why I don't feel well after eating that (I'm gluten-free). Have you ever done something so silly, just because of the lack of thinking? ;)
