English Heart - a suncatcher in beads and wire

Show your support for the team this summer with this beaded ornament, a heart-shaped, beaded representation of the English flag. It could be displayed with your other World Cup memorabilia, or simply hung in your window for an alternative way to show your English pride. I created this suncatcher from stainless steel wire and an eclectic mixture of glass beads in shades of red and white. It measures 8cm (just over 3") wide, and is just under 8cm (3") high. This heart hangs from a loop of…

Altar to Freya

This is altar i recently built in honour of Freya, or Freyja - the norse goddess of love and beauty. The altar itself is a tree stump that I lugged home from the riverside one day, it has served for the basis of many different altars over the years and is well worn and loved. The little goddess figure is surrounded by brandberg amethyst crystals, and the photograph of the rushing waters behind was taken by my dad when he was doing a series of images of the elements for me.

Create a garden goddess for May Day!!!

When Ruby was about 3 yrs old, I began the yearly tradition of making a garden goddess. The idea comes from a fantastic book "Celebrating the Great Mother" by Cait Johnson. We do this craft together before every May Day, so our Goddess is ready to look over our garden and take care of the seeds we are sowing! Here is a tutorial on how to make your own garden goddess... you will need: a stick face of some sort, (you could craft your own from clay), I have a mould and use fimo bake clay scraps…
