Tree of Hope by Frida Kahlo

Frida Kahlo - Tree of Hope, Remain Strong 1946 oil/masonite Daniel Filipacchi Collection, Paris, France

Frida Kahlo. I love this photograph.

A photograph of Frida Kahlo, taken at Xochimilco, Mexico, in is the basis for this work. Elements from Frida's painting "What The Water Gave" Me have been added together with multiple layering and texturing in this photomontage.

The Cocoi Heron (Ardea cocoi) is very similar to the Great Blue Heron of North America. They are common in the Pantanal and widespread through much of South America. We found this one perched on an open water stump, trying to catch a fish for the evening, during my last jaguar photo tour to the Pantanal.
